Prior to Astarc Group, Gaurang was associated with the TATA Group and PwC. He was chosen for Blue Mint, a TATA group young leadership program conducted in association with the London School of Business.
His research interests include pricing, new product introduction strategies, retailing, private labels, and corporate advertising. Currently he teaches the required core Marketing Management course and the Pricing Strategy course. Prior to joining academics, Professor Raju was with Tata Administrative Service for about two years where he worked with a number of companies in the Tata group in India. He also worked as a Design Engineer with Philips (India) Ltd. Professor Raju has consulted extensively with companies around the world including Wyeth/Pfizer,Teva, Johnson and Johnson, Convatec, Medtronic, Warner Home Video and several start-ups on designing and improving pricing strategies and developing launch plans for new products.
He has received numerous teaching awards at Wharton and UCLA: Wharton MBA Core and Elective Teaching Awards, Wharton Executive MBA Teaching Awards, George Robbins Award, and the Marketing Teacher of the Year Award. He received the Frank Bass Award in 1992 and 2000 given by the Institute of Operations Research and Management Science and the John D.C. Little Best Paper Award in 1996 and 2000. He was also recognized at IIM Ahmedabad for the best academic performance in each of the two years he attended.
